What Is Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a form of clothed bodywork, which aims to promote the free flow of energy within the body, by encouraging balance and healing on a physical and emotional level.
Shiatsu is a Japanese word meaning 'finger pressure'. In practice, it combines various manipulative techniques, such as stretching, rocking and holding, with pressure (which may be applied using thumbs, fingers, palms, forearms, elbows, feet and knees). As a complete system of touch therapy, it draws extensively on key aspects of Traditional Oriental Medicine.
It is an holistic therapy, working on an energetic level to stimulate harmony in body, mind and spirit.
People come for Shiatsu treatments for many reasons, some of which are below. However, because of recent advertising standards restrictions, it is not possible to state whether clients have found the treatments to be effective:
