The Practitioner

The practice of Shiatsu is regulated by the Shiatsu Society and, when looking for a therapist, it is advisable to check that she/he is a registered practitioner with the Society and that professional insurance is held.

A minimum of three years' training and a formal assessment are required for acceptance onto the Shiatsu Society register. A qualified practitioner will have studied Traditional Oriental Medicine, Western anatomy, physiology and pathology, as well as the practical techniques of shiatsu and energy awareness.
