Liz Welch - Shiatsu Training

The ESS Basic Skills Course is an ideal introduction to basic Shiatsu technique for anyone wishing to practise informally on family and friends and also for students who are intending to go on to study the Foundation Course or the full Practitioner training.

The weekend will cover:

  • a selection of basic techniques taken from the Foundation Course, giving short routines in prone and supine positions
  • using relaxed bodyweight in the most efficient way possible;
  • spinal alignment and joint opening techniques;
  • an introduction to the concepts of Oriental Medicine theory;
  • some acupressure points for first aid use;
  • an introduction to Qi (energy) awareness and Do-In exercises to increase energy flow in the body.

It's also a great way for students and qualified practitioners to get back to Beginner's Mind and to enjoy giving and receiving shiatsu at its simplest.

All that's required is an open mind, a basic level of fitness (primarily the ability to kneel on the floor) and to be prepared to have some fun, giving and receiving deeply relaxing techniques.

The course runs from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, with a one hour lunch break, on a Saturday and Sunday.
